The Immediate Past Secretary to the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Boss G. Mustapha, CFR, NPoM donates a massive library complex to the Lutheran University Nigeria (LUN), on the occasion of his 70th Birthday in Demsa, Adamawa State of Nigeria. The Library complex was named Wesley Mustapha, by the Arch Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Most Revd. Musa Panti Filibus, PhD.
Boss Mustapha’s life odyssey has been marked with triumph, Grace, discipline, courage, and philanthropy. The Nascent Septuganerian said he dedicated the Gigantic Library complex to the University in honour of his late father, who was devoted and impacted knowledge.
The event which held at the University Permanent site in Demsa Local Government of Adamawa state was chaired by His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the Guest of Honour was His Excellency, RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, CON, GSSR, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, the Executive Governor of Gombe state, H.E. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was ably represented by the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, H.E., Dr Manasseh Daniel Jatau, Past and Present Federal Executive Council Members, Service Chiefs, Royal fathers, Speaker and members of the Adamawa state house of assembly, members of the diplomatic corps, well meaning Nigerians, amongst others …hosted by Most Reverend Musa Panti Filibus, Ph.D, OFR, the Arch Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN).
The Lutheran University of Nigeria (LUN) is a developing tertiary institution located in Demsa, Adamawa State, owned by the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN).
It sits on a 171-hectare (approx. 400–500 acres) site adjacent to the LCCN-operated Demsa Hospital, which is intended to serve as a teaching hospital, Promoted under the vision of the Archbishop of LCCN, Most Revd Musa Panti Filibus. The foundation-laying ceremony was performed by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in December 2022.
In his speech, the chairman of the Occasion, the executive Governor of Plateau state, H.E. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang (Esq) eulogized the celebrant. “You could have decided on the occasion of your 70th Birthday decide to build yourself a house in London, on buy yourself a spectacular gift, but you decided to give back, this has set example for those of us in public service as an opportunity to give back to our community.
The Celebrant, Dr. Boss Mustapha, CFR, NPoM, was overwhelmed with gratitude. He eulogized his late father Pa Wesley Mustapha, and he donated the library to honour the memory of his father whose life was dedicated entirely to education and building the lives of others. He noted he wants his life to be a template for the next generation. “I want to use my life as a template for the next generations, it’s not about now, but using my position to better the lives of others”
“My decision to undertake this project is bore out of the need to better the lives of the generation coming after us”
“My father was a class room teacher, he rose to becoming the headmaster at the Government science school founded by LCCN, he was concerned about the quality of life we are providing for the people after us”
“Education must equip people to think, innovate, create, compete, solve problems and help in moral grounding “ he said.
“I saw LUN as an institution worth supporting he affirmed”
He affirmed in honour of his father, he is investing in things his late father held dearly.
He charged the younger generation, “My life should be a testimony to the young people of the state; if the son of a classroom teacher can make it, then you can make it. Do not allow your background to define your life, your background should be a template to your future. Be determined, be confident, use your background as a stepping stone. Be confident; the Lord will anchor and help you,” he said
The Executive Governor of Adamawa state, RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, GSSR thanked Boss Mustapha for Investing in Lutheran University Nigeria. “ on behalf of the Governent and good people of Adamawa state, we thank you and congratulate you on your new age. 70 is not just an age, but an attestation of Gods grace”
“Sir boss, you celebrated your birthday in a manner that goes beyond the conventional. Rather than receive gift, you Gave an eternal gift., rather than celebrate your last achievement, you decided to give to build the future. Rather than build a monument in your honour, you build a monument of knowledge, this is an investment, thank you sir” he said.
The host and Archbishop of Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, thanked the celebrant for doing the church a great honour.
“Your Excellency, this physical structure, built in loving memory of your father, Mr.Wesley Mustapha, represents a lasting investment in education, knowledge and the future of our young people. Generations of students and scholars will benefit from what has been made possible here. We pray that Almighty God will continue to bless
and strengthen you, your family and all who have supported this undertaking” the clergy said.
If there is one thing that has remained paramount in the life of boss is education. He believes that the future of any nation is built in its classroom, laboratories and libraries.
In addition to the library complex that is being built today, Boss Mustapha has consistently invested in educational institutions across the length and breadth of the country: at his primary school, now Nassarawa Primary School, he constructed an industrial borehole, 3 blocks of classrooms, and established an ICT center, equipped with computers and over 100 tablets, equipping the young talents for the digital age.
At his secondary school, GSS Hong, the transformation has been total:
– a 3 km perimeter fence for security,
– a 2.5 km asphalt road network,
– the construction of 9 complete classrooms with laboratories
– renovation of the assembly hall,
– provision of over 100 street lights,
– water supply and an ice center.
At his Alma Mata ABU Zaria, he facilitated a road network and the restoration of the university dam. He has supported the Adamawa State University, Federal College of Education Yola, and College of Education Hong, with road networks, drainage, solar street lightening, construction of hotels, CBT centers, and investing in faith-based and specialized education. Technological College of Northern Nigeria, he constructed a block of classrooms; at the Junior Lutheran Seminary, he provided ICT facilities and industrial boreholes at the Muslim Council secretariat. GSS Panshika classrooms were renovated and provided students with a great environment
When you build schools, you build people, when you build people, you build a nation.
